Sunday School Snacks
Here are some fun and tasty snacks for Sunday school that are easy to make. Enjoy!
Berry Smoothie
Ingredients
- 2 bananas
- 1 cup milk
- 2 cups strawberries
- 1 cup vanilla yogurt
Directions: Peel and slice bananas. Cut tops of strawberries. Blend all the ingredients together in blender until smooth. Serve.
Chex Muddy Buddies
Ingredients
- 9 cup Chex cereal (any variety or combination of varieties)
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup peanut butter
- 1/4 cup margarine
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1-1/2 cup powdered sugar
Directions: Pour cereal into large bowl. Microwave chocolate chips, peanut butter, and margarine for 1 minute. Stir to make smooth. Stir in vanilla extract. Pour over cereal and mix well to cover all of the cereal. Pour cereal into a large plastic baggie and add powdered sugar. Shake to coat cereal. Spread on wax paper to cool, and then serve.
Corn Pudding
Ingredients
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 3 Tbsp. cornstarch
- 1 can (13-oz.) evaporated milk
- 1 lb. frozen corn
- Margarine
Directions: Mix all ingredients together. Pour in a greased glass bowl. Dot with margarine. Bake at 350° for 1 hour. Serve warm.
Dirt Cake
Ingredients
- 1 pkg. Oreo cookies
- 2 pkg. Vanilla instant pudding mix
- 4 cups milk
- 1 tub Cool Whip, thawed
Directions: Prepare pudding as directed. While the pudding is setting, crush Oreo cookies with a meat tenderizer so they are in small pieces. Sprinkle Oreos on top of the pudding mix. Add Cool Whip to the top and serve. You can add gummy worms for a real authentic look, and/or serve in clean terra cotta pots.
Fruit Pizza
Ingredients
- 1 pkg. sugar cookie dough mix
- 1 pkg. cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup Cool Whip, thawed
- 1 tsp. almond extract
- Fruits (kiwi, pineapple, strawberries, grapes, sliced)
- Sugar to taste
Directions: Bake cookie as a pie crust according to package directions. Mix cream cheese, Cool Whip, and almond extract. Spread on cooked crust. Top with fresh fruit slices. Sprinkle with sugar.
Fudgies
Ingredients
- 2 cup sugar
- 4 Tbsp. cocoa
- 1 stick margarine
- 1/2 cup milk
- 3 cups Minute Oats
- 1/2 cup peanut butter
Directions: In a medium saucepan combine sugar, cocoa, margarine, and milk. Boil for 1 minute, and then add Minute Oats and peanut butter. Spoon onto wax paper and cool.
Fun Fruit Dip
Ingredients
- 1 pkg. cream cheese, softened
- 1 jar marshmallow cream
- 2 Tbsp. frozen orange juice
Directions: Mix all ingredients with an electric mixer. Keep chilled. Set out at least one-half hour before serving. Great with all kinds of fruits!
Heavenly Punch
Ingredients
- 4 cups sugar
- 6 cups water
- 1 can frozen orange juice
- 1 can frozen pineapple juice
- Juice from 2 lemons
- 2 mashed bananas
- 2 liter ginger ale
Directions: Bring sugar and water to a boil. Blend the rest of the ingredients in a blender and add sugar mixture after it has cooled. Place in freezer until ready to serve. Serve in a punch bowl with ginger ale poured over when ready to serve.
Jello Salad
Ingredients
- 1 pkg. cherry Jello
- 3 cups hot water
- 1 can crushed pineapples
- 1 can whole cranberry sauce
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans, omit if allergies in the class
- 1/2 tsp. lemon juice
Directions: Dissolve Jello in hot water. Mix all ingredients and pour into 2-quart dish. Chill until set.
Scripture Cake
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup soft butter (Genesis 18:8)
- 1-1/2 cup sugar (Jeremiah 6:20)
- 5 eggs, separated (Isaiah 10:14)
- 3 cups sifted flour (Leviticus 24:5)
- 3/4 tsp. salt (2 Kings 2:20)
- 3 tsp. baking powder (Amos 4:5)
- 1 tsp. cinnamon (Exodus 30:23)
- 1/4 tsp. each of cloves, allspice, cinnamon (2 Chronicles 9:9)
- 1/2 cup milk (Judges 4:19)
- 3/4 cup chopped almonds (Genesis 43:11)
- 3/4 cup finely cut dried figs (Jeremiah 24:5)
- 3/4 cup raisins (2 Samuel 16:1)
- Whole blanched almonds (Genesis 43:11)
Directions: Cream Genesis 18 with Jeremiah 6. Beat in yolks of Isaiah 10, one at a time. Sift together Leviticus 24, 2 Kings 2, Amos 4, Exodus 30, and 2 Chronicles 9. Blend into creamed mixture alternately with Judges 4. Beat whites of Isaiah 10 until stiff; fold in. Fold in chopped Genesis 43, Jeremiah 24, and 2 Samuel 16. Turn into 10-inch tube pan that has been greased and dusted with Leviticus 24. Bake in oven at 325° for 1 hour, 10 minutes.
Sunday Cake
Ingredients
- 1 pkg. devil's food cake mix
- 1 box light brown sugar
- 3/4 stick butter
- 3/4 cup Carnation milk
Directions: Bake cake as directed on package in a 9 in. x 13 in. pan. While cake is baking, combine sugar, butter, and Carnation milk in a saucepan. Cook until smooth. Poke holes in the cake when it is done baking and pour the hot sugar mixture over the cake. Cool and serve.
